Sponsored by International League of Underwater Robot, the International Underwater Robot Competition was held in Lanzhou Jiaotong University the 19-25 July. This competition attracted more than 600 contestants of 67 universities from home and abroad, such as Taiwan University, Peking University, Tsinghua University and colleges from Norway and Korea. Among them, 23 teams participated in the Creative Group Competition.

COE & SIE joint team, Listen to The Sea, has 7 members: 2 instructors - professor ZHANG Yu from COE and professor PAN Wei from SIE, 1 graduate student - SONG Zhongchang from COE, 4 undergraduate students - LIU Xuecheng, LENG Yanhong from COE and LIN Yuhui, ZHANG Lei from SIE. All the team members come from the Research and Development Team of Self-contained Underwater Mobile Monitoring System Based on Robot Fish, whose research content includes ocean acoustics, robot, information & signal processing and artificial intelligence, etc.

After a heated competition, Listen to The Sea won finally the championship in the Creative Group and professor ZHANG Yu gained the Outstanding Instructor Award. It is the second time for the team to win prizes in national competition of underwater robot besides the third prize in 2014 Oceanology International China Underwater Robot Competition. These achievements has greatly shown the XMU underwater acoustic communicative discipline’s development and strength.
