I obtained PhD from SUNY stony brook in 2007, and established the research group in 2008 at Xiamen University. Initially substantial supports were offered from the college of Oceanography and Environmental Sciences, State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Science. Particularly, with the assistances of Dr. Huasheng Hong and Dr Minhan Dai, I set up the research group focusing on trace metals in the ocean and coastal waters, and conducted a series of cruises in the South China Sea, East China Sea, Pearl River estuary and Jiulong River estuary and so on. Here my early group published a series of peer reviewed papers on the related topics. Later on in 2014-2015, I visited the University of South California for a year and also taught at Xiamen University Malaysia for two years (2020-2022). Cooperating with many colleagues, my research interests were finally tuned in two new directions: 1) bioessential molecules; and 2) environmental pollutants (including metals). Currently, my students are working hard and they did a fantastic job on preparing cruises and conducting experiments, and so far have published several wonderful articles already. My group now cooperated with several other groups involving multi-disciplinary directions, here Dr. Lizhe Cai and several other colleagues shared a lot of new knowledges with me, and I enjoyed taking my part (chemical aspects) collaborating with these great scientists.
Our group is welcoming all levels of students for their Summer-camp training, undergraduate thesis, MS or PhD studies, or post-doc training!
